Pulled from Chris Webb's blog to farther propagate Word-O'Mouth Syndrome: Here is Gary Vaynerchuk of WineTV, providing his take on word of mouth and social networking.
According to Gary, word of mouth is still the most important tool for growing a business. He states that social networking and web 2.0 injected word of mouth with steroids which in turn drove it to version 3.0. The scale an individual can reach with tools such as facebook, myspace, twitter, del.icio.us and digg escalates reach exponentially compared to just plain old word of mouth. When you think about the friends you have in your networks, then include all their friends and then all their friends...
It seems that it could grow rather large quickly. Kind of like a virus.
So to farther research on Word-O'Mouth Syndrome, I'm asking my blog, facebook, twitter, del.icio.us and digg friends to participate in a very short survey.
Thanks in advance for your help. I will keep you posted on the findings.
